Had a truly memorable day with a bunch of friends at the Farne Islands. We had been really fortunate with the weather and enjoyed a great day photographing the puffins and Artic Terns. I had been before but this time I had a new camera the Canon 7D and also with a bigger lens 500mm. I was able to get the puffins in flight a lot easier due to the quicker focussing of the 7D.
The lighting was perfect on the day. Most of the time it was bright sunshine and then later it clouded over giving more softer lighting conditions.
The Artic Terns were attacking us from every direction as we walked the gauntlet. They were nesting so close to the walk way that is why they came after us. They are beautiful looking birds with their red beaks and feet.
The puffins can be so comical the way they walk and also the way the come into land.
This is what this particular puffin thought of the Farne Island Papparazzi!
Looks like this one has been crying and wiping his eyes....no not really...just having a scratch :)
This is my favourite image with the mouth full of sandeels.
Also on the islands are Razorbills, Guillimots, and Shags.
